The Draft National Labour Migration Policy (NLMP) is a positive step towards the ongoing development of a comprehensive migration management and governance framework in South Africa. The draft policy has been widely welcomed, given its focus on regulating migration labour in line with public opinion which has not been kind towards migrants. It also focuses on the promise of putting South Africans first in employment in line with the growing unemployment rate.
